Hacker Casino is a decentralized casino on Arbitrum One, an Ethereum Layer 2
blockchain. It is a collection of games that run on smart contracts.
The game state is calculated on-chain and streamed to you via JSON-RPC. Each
game has its own contract, which is open-source and verified on Arbiscan.
One game round has a duration of 256 blocks (about 64 seconds) and consists of
the following steps:
0. Betting (64 blocks). Players place bets on 8 options. The bets are sent from
your wallet directly to the game contract.
1. Resolving (128 blocks or less). Each block adds pseudorandom state to the
game. Either one winning option will emerge before 128 blocks (97.5% chance) or
the game will timeout and the prize pool will go to the house.
2. Claiming (at least 64 blocks). Winners claim their prize by sending a
transaction to the contract.
The randomness source are block hashes. Yes, they're bias-free enough (we tested
it) and won't be tampered with. Offchain Labs, the sole block sequencer, won't
throw away their $2.7B chain for better odds to win a round of Download Race.
